Shiloh comes from severe abuse and neglect. He was dumped at a high kill shelter in Tennessee as a vicious dog when he was 7 years old. Weighing in at 78 pounds, almost toothless, and being a senior, he was at deaths door when we found him on the internet and adopted him in New Brunswick, Canada. Two years later, Shiloh, meaning ~ he who was sent ~ brings joy to all who meet him. Now that he has grown into his skin at 115 pounds, he is majestic and regal. We visit hospitals and senior citizens homes and always encourage people to adopt and not shop. Shiloh expects nothing and appreciates everything. A true inspiration. We love our special boy.

If only there were more people like the Leger's, I love reading his posts. After all the dogs wanting homes, if only I could win the sweep I could send money to all those good people who do so much trying to help all these animals just wanting to be loved.

What a wonderful story. I love seniors. I have adopted 2 seniors and one was said to be aggressive and a biter. She just needed someone to count on to be there for her and I was until she died. I wish everyone would adopt a senior. Good luck Shiloh! I hope you win!

Shiloh's story always makes me cry! He is such a wonderful boy and I am so happy his story has a happy ending and hope he can inspire others to save shelter dogs. My German Shepherd also came from a shelter and a better friend I could not have found.

Shiloh's story makes my heart happy. He could not have found a better home. He is truly a fur baby and loved through and through. I am "Auntie Shirley's" mother, Linda Vestal. I watch her grieve over the ones she can't save and rejoice with her when there's a wonderful success as with our dear Shiloh. I hope Shiloh's story gets out there so more people are willing to rescue senior animals. God Bless everyone who takes the time to say, "Hey, I care, how can I help?"

I love a happy ending. It never ceases to amaze me how dogs get labeled, often incorrectly. I am so glad Shiloh's mom is one of those rare souls that look beyond the labels and is willing to give a "bad dog" a chance to become a good dog. When "bad dogs" turn good it is a testament as to the character of the dog's previous owner and the dog's new family, with of course the one being of bad or questionable character and the other being of the finest character.

Your story made me cry, first because of how you were just dumped and thinking of how you must have felt Shiloh! And then thinking of how you must have felt when you got to your new loving home! Thank goodness that you were adopted by those wonderful people! Thank you for the story that had the most wonderful happy ending! I see to many that don't! Bless you all and Shiloh to!

Shiloh, odds were against your survival until the Legers took you into their home and all the way into your hearts! You are such a beautiful furbaby now, loving life, and knowing that no harm will ever come to you. We love you, Shiloh...you have a LOT of fans. I know you have taken the Leger family into your pack, and blessed them as much as they bless you. We serve a wonderful God, who put so many of His beautiful attributes into these creatures who were made for our companionship...that's right, God made them to be our companions, our protectors and demonstrate the wonderful tenderness that is God!

Shiloh was abandoned at a high kill shelter by his owners who claimed he was a vicious dog. Nothing could be further from the truth. Read his story. Look at his pictures, particularly of those that show him interacting with people of all ages. Small children pet and hug him, while he lays on the ground enjoying every moment. Look at the pictures of Shiloh leading his hometown parade without human direction, off lead. Shiloh is an old soul, in touch and in tune with everything and everyone around him. How many Shilohs are currently in shelters now, waiting to be rescued? How many Shilohs never got the chance? His is an important story that needs to be told in order to change the false perception many have of shelter dogs. Shiloh means "he who was sent" Shiloh was sent to pave the way for other shelter dogs and in particular, other senior dogs.

Shiloh being in this competition is not just about him being a gorgeous GSD (which he is!!) but about the fact that he has been through hell and survived! And him winning will help create awareness for shelter dogs and seniors and hopefully lead to more being saved! I am proud to vote for Shiloh and if there is a competition that he is entered in, you can bet your boots I will be voting (as will my friends and family)!! Go Shiloh go xx
