Tater Tot is a very special little pup. She is a rescue dog from Big Apple Bull Terrier Rescue in New York City. She was born with many, many allergies and her owners no longer could take care of her because of the expense. When I adopted her, she was chronically itching, and needed months to re-grow her fur that she had lost from her allergies. With months of supportive care and a new allergy medication plan, she has completely turned around! A few months after I adopted her, I realized that she had a very special gift to work with children. Kids seemed to love her big ears, and her goofy personality, and she loved giving them kisses and letting them pet her. I started to think that because she had been so sick in the past, she might be a help to kids who were sick as well. She trained for her therapy dog certification, and now works at a local childrens hospital, where she visits all different types of sick children. It is such a joy to see the children's faces when she comes parading into their rooms for a visit. It's such a rewarding experience for myself, as well!
