I hope all of my Canadian readers had a wonderful Thanksgiving this past weekend! To celebrate we gave the dogs a disgustingly delicious dish made of mashed chic peas, carrots, cucumber, sardines and raw ground beef. To me, barfy, to them, the best thing that ever happened.

After devouring their special holiday feast, we decided to spend the day searching for adventure, and stumbled upon a really awesome sandy beach only 15 minutes from our house! The dogs love to play in the

After several years of trying to resist allowing Roxy and Cash up on the furniture, I've recently come to the conclusion that life is too short not to snuggle all the time. So now the dogs join me on the couch anytime I'm on it. This has improved both mine and their quality of life substantially, however it has quickly aged my sofa, not to mention making it smell really bad. I tried throwing down a comforter first, but found it to be too large and too hot, that is until I found the

October is a very important time in our household. Roxy's birthday is coming up at the end of the month (hurray) and of course, Halloween, the one time of the year that I can dress the dogs up without furious eye rolls from Jer. I was so excited yesterday when Roxy's birthday present finally arrived in the mail - two custom, hand-carved leather collars from our friends at Paco Collars! Aren't they gorgeous? I don't want to brag or anything, but the design was my idea, inspired by one of my fave tattoos and come to fruition with a LOT of help from Josie, one of the resident artisans. I told her I wanted the collar to feature swallows and roses, and she took my

Every year around this time I like to share my fave finds from the SuperZoo pet industry trade show. This year, my pics range from retro bowls to holiday-themed toys and treats, to a handmade tag that perfectly expresses my love for dog.

Here are my five current nitpicks about dog owners:

PORK

NEWSFLASH: When you consistently feed your dog much more food and treats than she needs (not wants), SHE GETS BIG. And the most bizarre thing is that owners just don't see it. Let me ask: how can you not see the calluses on your dog's belly?

I'm constantly amazed at how many overweight dogs I see these days, as opposed to twenty years ago, when you usually had to search retirement homes and butcher shops to find a
