The petfood recall of 2007 really changed the petfood industry – for the better as people started be become more aware of the maxim you are what you eat.
That’s why is worries me so much that there are still food and treat recalls happening on an on-going basis.
This week I was introduced to an interesting new website called AwesomeValley.com. This site takes a tongue-in-cheek approach to helping educate consumers about the dangers of Chinese-sourced chicken jerky treats. The site is the work of a company called BIXBI that manufactures pet treats from only American-sourced ingredients.
In creating the site, they have created an imaginary competitor and website asking consumers to actually STOP BIXBI.
Awesome Valley features fictitious products such as Arsnick’r-Doodles and Formalde-Hound and comes complete with an interactive slot-machine Flavor Creator offering salmon, cement an illegal antibiotics as ingredients to highlight what is going on with some treats.
Oh and if you click on the Chinese wording – it actually leads you to a coupon for some bone fide treats.
Go and create some treats for yourself on the site and you will see what I mean…
