Next week, along with many people in the pet world, I will be heading to Orlando, Florida for the Global Pet Expo. It’s always fun to meet up with old friends and learn about all the new things about to come to market.
While its an insider’s show – pet industry and media only, the messages put out there do in fact work their way down to the pet owner eventually!
And trust me manufacturers go to great lengths to draw attention to themselves at the show.
Last year Gamma2 the manufacturers of a selection of air tight storage containers for pet food, employed The Gamma Green Men – the verdant version of the Blue Man Group to create music using the Gamma2 Vittles Vaults dry pet food containers as drums to beat out the message about the importance of proper pet food storage. Dry pet food can quickly lose flavor or become the target of pests like ants, roaches and even rats.
Apparently they were such a huge hit last year that they are back again with the same message and building a Wall of Freshness with the containers to show of their strength and versatility as storage.
I have been told by manufacturers of pet foods that storing in air tight containers is one thing, but if you really want to keep the food fresh and uncontaminated, it’s best to keep it in its original packaging inside the container.
Good to know and pass on to your furriends.
